European Research Infrastructure for Plant Phenotyping

EMPHASIS is a distributed infrastructure with installations and services across Europe, and a Coordination Office in Belgium. Working at a pan-European scale, we enable researchers and innovators to work seamlessly across geographies and disciplines, reducing duplication, improving comparability of results, and delivering better insights for sustainable innovation in agriculture, the environment, and plant-based bioeconomy.

EMPHASIS aims to provide a unified, state-of-the-art plant phenotyping infrastructure, with interconnected facilities, tools, data, and expertise across Europe, empowering plant- and crop-based research and innovation to address urgent challenges in food security, sustainability and climate resilience, and health.
EMPHASIS brings the power of plant phenotyping to bear in supporting the development of innovative and resilient plant-based systems - driving scientific excellence, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and wellbeing in Europe and beyond.
